Records Answer Desk

Public-records research and follow-through

Get the records behind your project question.

We handle the agreed records requests and follow-through, then turn the material received into a cited answer and an organized project packet.

For diligence firms, developers and local research businesses.

Start with one real task.

  1. Scope one question

Check whether the needed records and route are identifiable.

  2. Coordinate retrieval

Use agreed requests and up to two follow-ups per request during 90 days.

  3. Deliver the answer

Provide a cited packet or a documented gap report if records remain unavailable.

The pilot

Agree the scope first.

$500complete-packet pilot

One question, one jurisdiction and up to three precisely described record requests. $250 for the agreed request plan and bounded follow-through; $250 on delivery of a packet from records received within 90 days. Up to 20 documents or 300 pages, whichever comes first. Two follow-ups per request. Includes one review call of up to 60 minutes and one factual revision pass.

What to bring

The question, jurisdiction, known record identifiers and any records already held. We agree request authorization and disclosure of requester identity before filing.

What the pilot covers

Agency and retrieval fees are separate and require approval. Requester eligibility, identity and filing authorization are agreed first. Agencies control timing and release. If no records arrive within 90 days, deliver the request/gap log and close the scope without the second $250 charge. The pilot does not provide a legal conclusion or guarantee a complete answer. Search/copying fees pass through at cost with prior approval. Records arriving after 90 days are handed over with the request correspondence; preparing a new answer packet then requires a new agreed scope.

Why not use a request platform?

You can. This service adds a scoped research question, retrieval follow-through and a reviewed answer. We may use established request tools where appropriate.

What if the agency does not respond?

The first $250 covers the agreed request plan and bounded follow-through. If no records arrive within 90 days, we deliver the request/gap log and close the scope; the final $250 is not charged.

What if the records arrive later?

We hand over late records and the request correspondence. The original scope closes at 90 days; a new analysis packet needs a new agreed scope. Search and copying fees are passed through at cost with approval.
